Hi Everyone!

It's that time of year again, time to place your order for the 2011 FAST
triathlon and bike apparel.  We will be ordering from Voler again this year. 
The design will be the same as last year's, although there will  be a slight
change in the shorts design since the shorts style we ordered last year is no
longer available.

We need a minimum of 15  items in each like item category to be able to order,
so if you want to order something, don't forget to talk it up and convince your
friends to order as well, so we can make the minimums.   What constitutes a
"like item"?

Bottoms: bike shorts (regular and bib), tri shorts, knickers (regular and bib)

Short Sleeve Items: short sleeve bike jerseys, sleeveless bike jerseys, vests
(windshell and thermal), one-piece tri suits, cycling skinsuits, and tri race
tops

Specialty Tops: Women's tri shimmels, women's sport tops (aka, sports bras)
Ladies, if you want a shimmel or a sport top, you will definitely need to talk
it up, since we did not meet the minimums on these items last year.  We will not
be ordering long sleeve items this year.  If anyone wants FAST arm warmers, we
ordered some extras last year, so see Cheryl to get yours.

We will not have fit kits this year, so if you are unsure of size or material,
please let me know and we can see if we can get a sample for you to review from
another club member.

FIND THE TRIATHLETE WITHIN YOU...

ON SUNDAY MARCH 20, 2011, at the 11th annual Y-TRI, The Farmington YMCA, F.A.S.T. and the Sunrise Runners will be offering an opportunity for the entire family to participate anytime in an indoor triathlon from 7AM to 11AM. The Y-TRI is specifically adapted to encourage family participation by appealing to both the novice who wants to compete in a multi-sport event and to challenge the seasoned triathlete to assess their pre-season conditioning. The Y-TRI 2011 will also offer a "KIDS TRI" designed and specifically formulated for children between 7 - 11 yrs.

Each athlete will choose any combination of three events (swim, bike, run or elliptical) and any combination of time for each event (10, 15 or 20 min). Y-TRI 2011 has something for the entire family and the proceeds directly benefit the local community through the YMCA's "Strong Kids" program.

-          The awards banquet is 20 days away, when FAST officers want to celebrate you and your accomplishments during 2010. Please e-mail swim@swimfasttrifast.com your swim mileage for 2010 (preferably in yards, but I will convert) so that you an be recognized  at the January 22 banquet and on the FAST website.

-          Details about 2010's Swim Challenge are located on the FAST website under Swimming and "2010 Swim Challenge." Levels will be the same for 2011, so keep swimming. You can do it!!

Need an easy, fun and motivational way to track your swim mileage?

-          United States Masters Swimming (USMS) started a program called Go The Distance (GTD) four years ago. More than 2,200 swimmers participated in 2010. It's a self directed program that keeps track of your swimming, and other fitness activities. There is no cost to enter GTD if you are a USMS member. Simply register through your FLOG in the "MY USMS" section of their website. When you achieve certain milestones, ranging from 50 miles through 1500 miles, you will be recognized on the U.S. Masters Swimming website and will receive special prizes from Nike Swim, our event title sponsor for the event.

-          You can check up on swimmers throughout Michigan , as well as track competitors throughout the country. You can enter daily or monthly totals. Very easy.

FAST Apparel:

-          FAST warm-up’s are once again available for purchase.  Pricing is slightly higher than last year.

o       An updated order form will be placed on line at the FAST website in the next week or so.

o       Orders must be placed by the FAST swim meet, to ensure delivery before the state swim meet.

-          Technical Apparel by Voler.  We are checking for interest in bike/tri apparel for 2011.  We need to make minimum quantities to place orders for these items.  If you are interested in bike and or triathlon apparel purchases for 2011, please email pres@swimfasttrifast.com
